Character Information
General
Canon Source: Disney's Sleeping Beauty
Canon Format: Animated feature film
Character's Name: Maleficent
Character's Age: EVIL NEVER AGES - I mean, she looks around thirty, but it's never been stated or clarified.
Conditional: If your character is 13 years of age or under, please clarify how they will be played. N/A
What form will your character's NV take? The NV is going to be in her staff, in her crystal ball. With a dramatic flair of her hand, she can show video, audio, even write text simply by saying out loud to it.
Abilities
Character's Canon Abilities: Let's put this bluntly: Maleficent is a force of evil. In a sense she's a representative, a senator, or a stand-in for all things evil and dark. If it's for the superiority of evil, she can pretty much do everything she wants, fuck the police. It's been certainly implied in the film that she is very powerful, more powerful than the three fairies of Good because of this implied god-mod power.
For the sake of not losing my hair over this, I'm just going to limit her what she has been seen doing, and what is exactly she is said that can do, literally. This shows:
- shoot lighting bolts out from her staff
- send in a frost
- grow massive, miles-long forest of prickly thorns
- weather control, sort of. She can control lightning and create really amazing cloud covers, but it's not certain how much control she has.
- hypnotizing
- fucking up the architecture - basically making new rooms out of existing walls, turn some of the entrances into stone walls, that sort of thing
- teleportation with a snazzy entrance that sometimes include lightning and green flames
- turn into a massive dragon that can breathe fire
- Illusion in the globe of her magic staff, to show "potential" future, just to mess with Phillip's head.
- Spying in her magic globe, from her showing Aurora's sleep, though it looked like she used it less on spying and more on messing with Phillip's head. Priorities, she has them.
- and most importantly is her ability to curse, most famously with her curse upon Aurora. If she wants to wish death on you, she'll do that, but it is very circumstantial. If she puts in a time limit, like "on your sixteenth birthday", and you take measures as to make sure whatever that curse DOESN'T happen. It's a powerful ability, but it is preventable.
Conditional: If your character has no superhuman canon abilities, what dormant ability will you give them?
N/A
Weapons: She has a magical staff and that fucking crow.
History/Personality/Plans/etc.
Character History: Here's a more detailed background on her, which include Kingdom Hearts canon!
Point in Canon: At the point when she flips her shit and start shoot lightning at her henchmen for being dumber than rocks.
Conditional: Brief summary of previous RP history. N/A
Character Personality: Have you ever hear the song "When You're Evil" by Voltaire? If not, listen to it, because that's the best summary of Maleficent, especially this part:
And it's so easy when you're evil
This is the life, you see
The Devil tips his hat to me
I do it all because I am evil
You get the gist of it. But while perfect, it doesn't show her nuances.
Maleficent a fairy of evil, though she likes to call herself as a "mistress of all evil". She's LOVES being evil, and she'll swagger that little fact around. It is no surprise that she's pretty arrogant, and thinks everything else (except maybe her pet crow, and even that's a stretch) as below her. She's charming but passive aggressive. She'll pretend that everything's all hunky dory but she'll curse your newborn daughter in a second. Seriously, if the king and queen were wise enough in the first place, they invite her and endure her pointed insults and that annoying crow, but no, they just have to piss her off. She holds grudges closely, and she isn't subtle about it unless she tries to hide it. Which most the time she doesn't, as she doesn't see the point of hiding about her opinions. Why should she? She's Maleficent.
Fauna once said "I don't think she's very happy," but all what we can see from her behavior, she's more than happy to be evil. Being a good person is not on her agenda. She's not interested in growing flowers. She rather send a frost and watch them freeze to death.
That's when her sadism comes in: she lets things live and flourish so it she can tear them down. This is most evident with her cursing Aurora - she can easily kill the infant with a lightning bolt, or send Diablo, her crow, to peck the baby's eyes out, but where's the fun in that? Instead she lets the babe grow into something beautiful, to learn happiness and love, and then cuts it short as brutally as she can. Not that the middle part really matters to Maleficent, as she doesn't understand love and friendship. To her, all those "good" things seems to be valuable to people she despise or enjoys torturing, so she delights in taking them away. Maleficent is one mean bitch and she enjoys it.
Like everything else about her, Maleficent' sense of humor is very dark. It is a very dry, condescending sort that fully intends on putting the other person down and put her on a higher pedestal. Her sadism is merged with her twisted sense of humor, and more often than not they are one of the same. She is also elegant and holds poise in her movement and manner of speaking. In some ways, she act like a calm, soothing mother . . . but she doesn't really hold on to that facade for very long, especially when she feels she has been wronged. And when she feels wronged, she acts less like an adult and more like a child, angrily putting down those who dare to slight her or those who try to thwart her.
From this sadism comes her arrogance and her narcissism. She's a fairy like Merryweather, Flora, and Fauna but she believes herself to be above them, calling them "the rabble" and calls herself the "mistress of all evil". She even considers her allies as pets, and when her less-than-intelligent goblin minions showed less aptitude than she expected out of them, she sent bolts of lightning at them with the attitude of kicking a dog who had just peed on the new carpet. While her crow is her pet, but with far more affection than she does with her other minions. It's hard to say just how much affection she has for Diablo, though when it is clearly been shown that she doesn't understand love or friendship.
Unlike other Disney villains, she is very savvy enough to not be defeated by her own allies or powers. She'll make Prince Phillip, or anyone else, face her directly than try to undermine her. Hoisting her by her own petard is not going to work when it comes to fighting Maleficent, and she won't pull her punches. You want to face her? Then get ready to get a face full of green fire and razor sharp dragon teeth. That is to say that something like this won't occur very often - she is very reserved, even in her own body language. She's lazy, but arrogant, so she dislikes having to deal with a conversation with someone, like the three good fairies, who can bring her to their level. Which may have explained why it took her so long to find Aurora in the first place - her refusal to be part of relative intelligent company led her dopey minions to find a baby for sixteen years.
But with her arrogance and her sadism is also her downfall. She's always believes she has the upper hand because she is pure evil. Because she cannot comprehend good, it allows enough leeway for Prince Phillip to kill her with the help of fairies of good - the very ones that she considers to be below her station. As a result, she vastly underestimates the potential of others. This is her ultimate flaw: as she strive herself to be the perfect image of evil itself, she fails to understand the power of change of one's person while she images herself less as an individual and more of a force of nature.
Conditional: Personality development in previous game: N/A
Character Plans: She'll be swanking it up will all the villains, both PC and NPCs. LIKELY she'll sidle up with AGI, since they look slightly more evil and a lot more fun to boot. And because I am playing her from the movie and not from Kingdom Hearts, I fully expect some confusion on her part and a lot of uppity around the villains for a little while before finally chilling out and finding somepetsallies. Because her goal is just Being Evil, she's extremely pliable to do just about anything in any dark plots.
Oh, and she will totally be chilling with the Darkness. She eats that stuff right up.
Appearance/PB: There's a reason she's Disney's number one villain.
Writing Samples
Third Person Sample - She is drunk on the Darkness.
With her Diablo perching her shoulder, she looks around, delighting at how the flowers earlier have decayed, eaten away by the acidic, corrosive power that dwells in the night. If it isn't for the fact that she has more important matter to attend back home, she would have willingly abandon her home at the Forbidden Mountain and stay here.
Standing on the roof of a tower she delights in seeing her favorite monsters - the deadly horses and the snapping dogs. She's not too fond of the oozing blobs, though. They lack any majesty to the powers of the Darkness. (Not to mention they are rather disgusting.) Diablo caws softly, peering intently at the deadly, mindless beasts with a cunning of his own, evaluating them.
Maleficent turns away from the damned horses and dogs as they tear each other apart for the night, looking for something more interesting. This land is not home, where agony is her domain as well as everything else. Here the image of Hell, all-powerful, walks in a land that she has not walked before.
Her own smile is prim and proper, red lips that seem to hide in her pallid, greenish skin. It shows more bite than the grinning visage of dragons.
First Person Sample -
[ Fire.
That is what is first shown. Fire casting its deadly green light, around and around, a manic, frenzy dance of hellish flames. Finally, the flames died down, showing the head and shoulders of a woman with a pale complexion with a greenish light to her skin. Her eyes are bright and alert, completely yellow and looking less like a proper woman and more like an enraged, dark entity. Funny, that - that is how this particular woman always carried herself as. ]
I have been told the basics, of this strange world, with its Core. A kind gentleman who is, I believe, is his occupation to be so informative.
[ Too bad Maleficent was, at the time, to be in no mood for any helpful fools - she sent a few lightning bolts along his way when he stutters his first few sentences. ]
How curious this thing is, this Core.
But what I am more interested in is its children, the beasts that prowl at night.
I like to know more about them.
